Ashleigh Neville Joins Charlton Athletic Following Leicester Departure

Charlton Athletic adds experience to their roster by signing Ashleigh Neville from Leicester City, while Leicester recruits Jessie Stapleton from West Ham.

Charlton Athletic has secured full-back Ashleigh Neville on a two-year contract following her time at Leicester City. The 33-year-old veteran has participated in over 100 Women’s Super League matches and joins the newly promoted squad to offer significant professional experience.

This move marks a reunion for Neville and manager Karen Hills, who previously collaborated for three seasons at Tottenham and achieved top-flight promotion together. Neville expressed her enthusiasm for the new role, stating that she looks forward to applying her WSL knowledge to assist the team both on and off the field.

Neville arrived at Leicester in January but the team faced relegation after a defeat to Charlton in May. While the financial details remain private, it is understood that Charlton likely paid a fee to secure her signature. Meanwhile, Leicester has bolstered their own roster by signing Irish international Jessie Stapleton from West Ham on a three-year contract. Stapleton, 21, spent three years with West Ham and completed several loan spells before securing this permanent move to a club she believes matches her professional ambitions.
