Arsenal Secures Illan Meslier in Free Agent Transfer

Arsenal has confirmed the free transfer signing of former Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier to bolster their squad for the upcoming season.

Arsenal has officially announced the acquisition of goalkeeper Illan Meslier. The 26-year-old French player arrives on a free transfer following the conclusion of his tenure at Leeds United.

During his seven-year stint with Leeds, Meslier played 215 matches and recorded 70 clean sheets. Originally starting at Lorient, he moved to Yorkshire in 2019 and was pivotal in the club’s promotion to the top flight. He departs Leeds having accumulated 107 Premier League appearances.

Expressing his excitement, Meslier stated his pride in joining the club and his ambition to help Arsenal capture future trophies. He plans to focus on training and improving his performance to earn playing time, noting that consistent matches were a challenge for him last season.

The goalkeeper will challenge David Raya for the starting position. Wearing the number 30 jersey, Meslier is scheduled to begin training with the squad for the upcoming season, which commences with a match against Coventry City on August 21.
