APC Support Group Criticizes Ondo Protests, Links Aiyedatiwa Allies to Internal Discord

An APC support group has condemned protests in Ondo State as a paid political maneuver, accusing Governor Aiyedatiwa’s camp of inciting division, while the Governor denies any involvement.

The Democratic Integrity Network, an APC-affiliated support group, has denounced Monday’s demonstrations in Ondo State involving women and youths protesting the National Assembly candidate list approved by the party’s National Working Committee. Coordinator Bankole Aminu characterized the event as a calculated scheme intended to weaken party leadership rather than an organic expression of dissent.

Aminu alleged that the protest was fabricated, claiming participants were paid ₦3,000 each to pose as disgruntled members. The group expressed particular concern over the reported participation of the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Dr. Seun Osamaye, and State Women Leader Oluwayemisi Iji-Ayeola. They urged members to utilize official internal party channels for grievances instead of resorting to public displays that damage the party’s reputation.

Furthermore, the network accused Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s associates of fostering factionalism and undermining national leadership. They suggested the governor should prioritize experienced advisors over current political loyalists. Conversely, sources close to the governor stated that Aiyedatiwa had no involvement in the protest and was reportedly displeased by the commissioner’s participation in the unauthorized demonstration.
