APC Chairman Yilwatda Supports Victims of Bokkos Attacks

APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe visited Bokkos, Plateau State, to offer relief and reconstruction support to victims of a recent deadly attack in Kawel community.

Professor Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), traveled to the Mushere Chiefdom in the Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State this past Sunday. The visit aimed to offer condolences, provide aid, and commit to rebuilding areas devastated by recent violence. The trip was prompted by a June 21 assault on the Kawel community, which resulted in the loss of 22 lives, including several healthcare workers.

During a service at COCIN R.C.C. Ingwakap, Yilwatda conveyed the sympathy of the Federal Government and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the mourning families. He emphasized that the current administration is working diligently to improve security nationwide. To assist those in need, Yilwatda provided a significant donation of food supplies, such as rice, maize, and beans, alongside financial support. He further committed to a systematic reconstruction project for destroyed homes, noting that he would coordinate with local traditional and religious leaders to manage these resources effectively.

Addressing the crowd, Yilwatda urged farmers to maintain their agricultural activities, highlighting farming as a vital component of the local economy. He also advised the community to stay vigilant and maintain unity. The delegation included Dr. Bernard Doro, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction; Plateau State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Na’anlong Daniel; and several other officials. Speaker Daniel lauded the visit as a sign of compassionate leadership and reiterated the Assembly’s support for state-level security reforms. Meanwhile, Dr. Doro confirmed the Federal Government’s ongoing dedication to humanitarian aid, a gesture that local community representatives welcomed with gratitude during this difficult period.
