Antonelli claims Silverstone sprint victory after overtaking Hamilton

Kimi Antonelli overtook teammate Lewis Hamilton to win a competitive sprint race at the British Grand Prix, extending his lead in the championship standings.

Kimi Antonelli secured a thrilling victory at the British Grand Prix sprint race by overtaking Lewis Hamilton on the Hangar Straight. The Mercedes driver performed a calculated move on the eighth lap, utilizing his stored battery energy to secure the lead.

Early stages of the race featured intense competition between Lando Norris, George Russell, and Max Verstappen. While those drivers battled for position, 19-year-old Antonelli maintained his focus, eventually closing the gap to Hamilton. With this win, the Italian driver extended his championship advantage over George Russell to 43 points.

Lando Norris delivered an impressive performance, climbing from sixth on the starting grid to finish third. George Russell eventually overtook Max Verstappen to claim fourth, while Verstappen struggled late in the race, ultimately being passed by Charles Leclerc and finishing sixth ahead of Oscar Piastri. Liam Lawson secured the final points position after successfully defending against Isack Hadjar.
