Manchester United has announced that goalkeeper Andre Onana will spend the 2026-27 season on loan with Turkish side Trabzonspor. This deal, as reported by the BBC, does not feature a purchase option. Trabzonspor will manage the player’s full salary, provide Manchester United with a loan fee, and pay extra bonuses based on performance.
The move is currently pending international clearance and formal registration. The 30-year-old Cameroon international previously spent time with the club last season, featuring in 29 matches and contributing to their first Turkish Cup title since 2020.
Onana originally signed with Manchester United for £47.2 million from Inter Milan in 2023 and remains under contract at Old Trafford for two more years. His tenure at United was highlighted by only one appearance, which resulted in an EFL Cup loss against Grimsby. He was excluded from competing for a starting role, as Michael Carrick has prioritized Senne Lammens in goal. Meanwhile, further adjustments to the United squad are anticipated, with Altay Bayindir and Radek Vitek potentially departing this summer.
