Alhaji Sani Yellow, a well-known bandit leader, has spoken out to reject claims that he has passed away. In a video uploaded to X on Wednesday by the account Mobilisingnigerians, the kingpin explicitly denies being neutralized in a recent security mission within Zamfara State.
Reports suggesting his demise were likely the result of a misidentification error. The accompanying post explained that while a bandit commander known as Yellow was indeed killed, he served under a leader named Gwaska. The nickname Yellow appears to be common among various bandit factions, causing confusion regarding the identity of the person recently killed.
Previous news accounts claimed that Kachalla Sani Yellow had been eliminated in the Anka Local Government Area. These reports stated that he was responsible for orchestrating multiple violent attacks along the Anka–Bagega road and was taken down during an operation involving the Maiduguri Special Vigilantes. The body of the deceased individual was even shown to local residents in Anka as evidence. Despite the viral video, government officials have not yet released a formal statement to confirm exactly which bandit commander was killed.
