Woman killed in Lagos car crash following alleged brake malfunction

A female motorist died in a single-vehicle accident at Mongoro, Lagos, on Sunday, after her car reportedly suffered brake failure and crashed into a building.

A female driver died on Sunday after her vehicle hit a building in the Mongoro area of Lagos. The accident occurred along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway near Ile-Zik in Ikeja. Authorities suspect that the Toyota Sienna, which bore the license plate LND 162 HB, experienced a brake failure before veering off the road.

The victim was the sole person in the car. Following the collision, officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) arrived to secure the location and manage traffic flow. Police officers from the Afonka station were also present to assist with the recovery process.

Olalekan Bakare-Oki, the General Manager of LASTMA, characterized the event as a sorrowful warning about the risks of reckless driving. He emphasized the necessity of adhering to speed limits and ensuring that cars receive regular maintenance to prevent mechanical failures. The agency offered its sympathies to the family of the deceased.
