Sharif Ahmadzai, a 26-year-old from Afghanistan, has attended a private court hearing in Athens following accusations related to the death of a Scottish aid worker. The victim, Elisabeth Jane Ross, had been reported missing before her body was discovered inside a suitcase at a derelict property on July 18.
Ahmadzai was transported to the Athens Court of First Instance under police escort to face charges that include intentional homicide, robbery, and weapons violations. Following the brief proceeding, masked officers escorted him back to a vehicle. Police note that Ross, an Edinburgh native known as Lisa, had been in Greece since late June volunteering with a refugee support organization. While an initial autopsy was inconclusive, subsequent forensic analysis indicated a criminal act, likely resulting from asphyxiation.
