Adeniyi Adeyemi has addressed rumors regarding his disappearance, clarifying that he retreated from public view due to safety concerns rather than to evade authorities. He faces scrutiny over his leadership of the disputed Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). Speaking on Channels Television, Adeyemi asserted that his life remains at risk due to multiple threats.
Adeyemi reiterated his claim that he paid N400 million through an intermediary to Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, to obtain his role as director-general. He noted that the funds were borrowed and that his creditors have already alerted the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission regarding the debt. He has publicly urged President Tinubu to commission an independent inquiry into the matter.
The Presidency has dismissed the PFIPC as a fraudulent entity. Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga clarified that the council is non-existent, noting that Gbajabiamila previously petitioned the Department of State Services and the Nigeria Police Force regarding forged documents and impersonation. While Gbajabiamila has signaled his intent to sue, President Tinubu has ordered a formal investigation. Despite the controversy, the 2026 Appropriation Bill currently includes a N1.303 billion allocation for the council. Adeyemi maintains he is ready to defend his claims in a court of law.
