Nigerian boxing star Basit “Jokerboy” Adebayo is set to compete for the World Boxing Organization Youth International lightweight title against Tanzanian challenger Suleiman Sheha on April 18.
The 20-year-old Nigerian, riding high from his national lightweight title win in February, will take on the 22-year-old Tanzanian at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos.
Adebayo’s rapid rise has been impressive. Just last month, he claimed the vacant national lightweight title with a dominant unanimous decision over Segun Gbobaniyi, highlighted by a first-round knockdown.
“This is a moment of pure joy for me,” Adebayo said after his victory.
“Winning the national title has been a dream, and I’m proud to have achieved it in such a convincing manner.”
The upcoming fight promises to be an electrifying showdown between two rising stars. Adebayo, known as “Jokerboy,” has already proven his dominance in the ring, with his national title win showcasing his skill and determination.
Meanwhile, Sheha, the 22-year-old Tanzanian challenger, is eager to make his mark by upsetting Adebayo and claiming the WBO Youth International Lightweight Title.
With anticipation building, boxing fans and analysts are closely watching this pivotal moment in Adebayo’s career. A victory could solidify his reputation as a top prospect in the lightweight division and open doors to greater international opportunities.
