ADC Pushes for Judicial Probe into PFIPC Scandal, Names 10 Entities for Investigation

The African Democratic Congress has demanded a judicial inquiry into the PFIPC scandal, calling for investigations into 10 key government institutions and officials to address governance concerns.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has formally requested that President Bola Tinubu appoint an independent Judicial Commission of Inquiry to examine the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) controversy. Through a statement from National Publicity Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party asserted that the situation severely undermines public trust and governance integrity.

The ADC expressed dissatisfaction with the July 1 response from Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy. The party contends that the administration’s explanation failed to clarify how a supposedly fictitious entity managed to interact with multiple government agencies, secure budgetary funds, and communicate with foreign diplomats. The party argued that the scandal necessitates a comprehensive investigation into the Office of the Chief of Staff, the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Head of the Civil Service, the Budget Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Office of the National Security Adviser, the DSS, the Nigeria Police Force, the Accountant-General’s Office, and the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The ADC highlighted concerns regarding double standards, noting that while other high-profile figures face intense scrutiny from agencies like the EFCC and ICPC, the Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, remains in his position without an independent review of the allegations. The party warned that failing to address this matter transparently damages Nigeria’s international reputation and public confidence in state institutions. They called for an impartial inquiry led by respected Nigerians with the authority to subpoena witnesses and documents to ensure accountability.
