The African Democratic Congress has criticized President Bola Tinubu, labeling him a professional in issuing statements regarding national insecurity. The party is calling for clear timelines and updates concerning the 176 residents from the Woro community in Kwara State who have been held captive since February 3, 2026.
Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, emphasized that the government should not focus solely on celebrating isolated rescue successes while neglecting other victims. Following a peaceful protest by Kaiama residents on July 24, the party highlighted that the security situation in regions like Zamfara, Benue, Kebbi, and Borno is a national emergency. Recent incidents include the abduction of women and children in Maru Local Government Area and the kidnapping of Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza.
The ADC argues that presidential assurances have become empty rhetoric because they lack tangible results. The party insists that leadership requires equal urgency for all citizens, rather than prioritizing cases that receive significant media attention. They are demanding that the presidency provide concrete updates on the status of all current kidnapping victims across the country to prove that no community has been abandoned.
