The Accord Party has leveled accusations against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), alleging the agency froze Osun State government bank accounts to sway the August 15 governorship election toward the All Progressives Congress (APC). National Chairman Chief Maxwell Mgbudem characterized the move as an unlawful act performed without judicial authorization.
Mgbudem warned that the party intends to pursue legal recourse against the commission. He argued that the intervention threatens state administrative functions and signals a lack of impartiality among federal bodies. The chairman called on President Bola Tinubu to guarantee that security forces, specifically the police, operate with neutrality throughout the electoral process.
Beyond the financial freeze, Accord alleged that the police are harassing and detaining their members in Abuja, Osun, and Nasarawa. The party demanded these individuals be freed immediately and urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to manage the election process without outside pressure. Mgbudem emphasized that the populace must be permitted to select their leader without interference or intimidation.
