A Federal High Court in Abuja has issued an arrest warrant for Immaculata Ikenwankwor, a radiographer residing in the United Kingdom, to answer to charges involving cybercrime in Nigeria. Justice James Omotosho ordered the Inspector General of Police to notify Interpol and the Nigeria Immigration Service to place the suspect on a Red Notice and a national watch list.
The court mandate allows for the suspect to be held in police custody for 14 days upon her apprehension to facilitate investigation and potential prosecution. This ruling follows an ex-parte application submitted by the police, citing concerns that Ikenwankwor had gone into hiding since the alleged offenses occurred.
Legal records indicate that the suspect faces a six-count charge relating to sending menacing electronic messages via WhatsApp and mobile networks between January and March 2026. These actions allegedly violate the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act of 2015. Additional accusations include criminal blackmail and issuing death threats, which contradict sections of the 2004 Penal Code.
This development follows a previous ruling on July 2, where Justice O. A. Musa sentenced Ikenwankwor to 22 years imprisonment for contempt. Authorities have been directed to secure her at the Suleja Correctional Facility upon capture, with instructions sent to the Attorney-General and Interpol to coordinate the enforcement of these warrants internationally.
