Kelechi Anosike, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the 2027 Abia State governorship election, has publicly criticized Governor Alex Otti for failing to prioritize citizen welfare. Speaking at a press conference in Umuahia on Thursday, Anosike argued that current government policies have failed to improve the daily lives of residents.
Anosike claimed that traders, transporters, and civil servants are being sidelined, as the state government prioritizes infrastructure projects over essential sectors like pensions and local industries. He specifically accused the administration of failing to adhere to the federal minimum wage agreement and alleged that 10,000 public workers were forced into retirement prematurely. He pledged to reverse these policies if he wins the election.
Furthermore, the candidate condemned the recent ban on commercial motorcycle operations in Aba, noting it left many without a livelihood. Looking ahead to the 2027 race, Anosike promised to implement digital security monitoring for cities and forests and committed to ensuring local government funds are managed transparently. He remains confident that the PDP will unseat the ruling Labour Party.
