The Kebbi State administration has committed to providing support for the families of 10 police officers and others who lost their lives in a terror attack. These officers were ambushed while patrolling the Rafin Makuku area within the Sakaba Local Government Area.
Governor Nasir Idris announced the support plan during a meeting with a delegation sent by Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu. The visiting team, headed by Deputy Inspector General of Police for Operations Umar Shehu-Nadada, met with the Governor at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday.
Governor Idris expressed his condolences to the Nigeria Police Force for the loss, acknowledging that the victims were working alongside other security agencies to combat terrorism in the region. He emphasized that it is customary for the state to assist families of service members killed while performing their duties.
Representing the Inspector General, DIG Shehu-Nadada shared official sympathies with the Governor and the people of Kebbi. He stated that the police force is committed to tracking down the attackers and ensuring they face legal consequences. Furthermore, the Inspector General praised the state government for its continued cooperation and announced plans to establish a new police squadron in Kebbi.
