Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has officially welcomed 163 individuals kidnapped from Woro, located in the Kaiama Local Government Area. According to Mashood Abdulrafiu Agboola, the Deputy Chief Press Secretary, 46 of these survivors are currently undergoing medical treatment.
The governor was joined in Ilorin by security heads, including Brigadier General Nicholas Rume of the 22 Armoured Brigade, Police Commissioner Ojo Adekimi, and State DSS Director Michael Oganwu, alongside local leaders such as the Emir of Kaiama, Alhaji Muazu Umaru. Governor AbdulRazaq expressed relief that all victims were returned alive, noting that his administration has prioritized their medical care and recovery.
During the event, the governor lauded President Bola Tinubu for his significant contributions to regional security, noting that the president’s swift response to requests for assistance helped bolster peace in Kwara. AbdulRazaq highlighted recent security advancements, including the launch of Operation Savannah Shield, the hiring of 2,600 forest guards, and the deployment of five new Nigerian Army battalions.
Kaiama Local Government Chairman, Abubakar Abdullahi Danladi, and the Emir of Kaiama both praised the governor for his persistent dedication to the rescue operation. They expressed optimism that the newly established military infrastructure would effectively prevent such incidents from recurring.
