To combat rising fatalities and provide essential care for snakebite victims, the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare has provided 100 vials of Panaf Premium Anti-Snake Venom to the Benue State Government. Valued at N25 million, this supply aims to lower the high costs of treatment that often strain households.
Dr. Paul Ogwuche, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, officially accepted the donation in Makurdi on Friday. He credited Governor Hyacinth Alia’s leadership and the collaborative efforts between state and federal authorities for the timely aid. Ogwuche noted that the partnership with Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Aliu Pate, is vital to making healthcare more accessible to the public.
The state ministry has pledged to manage the stock through rigorous inventory practices to ensure the medication reaches those who need it most. Permanent Secretary Dr. Cephas Hough thanked the federal ministry, noting that the donation enhances the state’s ability to manage emergency medical cases. The consignment is now under the oversight of the Director of Pharmaceutical Services for secure storage and distribution.
