Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has issued an immediate order for all traders currently operating along the roadside at Agodi-Gate to relocate. The governor instructed these vendors to move into the newly completed stalls provided by the Ibadan North East Local Government Area.
During a commissioning ceremony held on Friday, Makinde reiterated his administration’s firm stance against street trading. He confirmed that the new facility is available to these traders at no cost and encouraged them to utilize the space effectively. To prevent corruption, the governor urged merchants to report any individuals attempting to extort them for access to these stalls.
Makinde explained that this initiative aims to minimize the risks associated with selling goods on busy streets. He noted that his government tracks traders to ensure the shops are allocated fairly, emphasizing that the project was specifically designed to support the livelihoods of those who rely on small daily profits to sustain their families.
