Gombe ADC spokesman steps down, sparking rumors of an APC switch

Gombe State ADC spokesman Abdulrahman Buba Zaune has resigned, raising questions about whether he will join the APC ahead of the 2027 governorship race.

Abdulrahman Buba Zaune has stepped down as the Publicity Secretary for the African Democratic Congress in Gombe State. His departure, effective from an August 5, 2026 letter sent to local party leadership, has ignited intense debate regarding his future political path as the 2027 gubernatorial race approaches.

While his resignation document thanked the party for allowing him to serve at the local, state, and national tiers, it provided no explanation for his exit or details about his next move. Many observers suspect he might join the All Progressives Congress. This speculation intensified because his resignation occurred just one day after APC gubernatorial hopeful Dr. Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna visited Zaune’s home area, Dukku Local Government.

This exit follows the recent departure of ADC State Secretary Ahmed Gana, who subsequently aligned himself with the APC and Dr. Gwamna. Experts suggest these shifts indicate that the ADC’s regional framework is weakening as political factions reorganize before the upcoming election.
