The State House has rejected claims that it played any part in establishing the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) or seeking a budget code for the group. This statement followed findings of irregularities in documents linked to the council during a session of the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee.
During a hearing in Abuja, representatives from the State House and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) addressed lawmakers regarding the council, which is accused of functioning without official authorization. The committee is currently investigating how the PFIPC gained government recognition and inclusion in the 2026 Appropriation Act.
Abdulkadri Idris, the Director of Administration representing the State House Permanent Secretary, clarified that the presidency had no role in the creation of the PFIPC. He explicitly stated that no request for a budget code was sent to the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation. Idris emphasized that the State House was unaware of the organization’s existence until it appeared in media reports, noting that the agency does not have the mandate to create such government bodies. He further dismissed the documents submitted to the committee as fraudulent.
