MI London secured a narrow three-run victory over London Spirit in the women’s Hundred, keeping their slender hopes of reaching the knockout stages intact. Melie Kerr was the standout performer, scoring an unbeaten 69 off 41 balls to rescue her team from a precarious position of 64-8.
MI London initially struggled, collapsing to 23-5 early in their innings. Kerr stabilized the team, hitting four sixes and five fours to help post a total of 122-9. London Spirit’s captain, Charlie Dean, was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3-26.
During the chase, Spirit faced early pressure before a 42-run partnership between Nadine de Klerk and Marizanne Kapp brought them back into the contest. After de Klerk fell for 35, the momentum shifted back to MI London. Despite late aggression from Deandra Dottin, Nicola Carey successfully defended the target in the final over, leaving Spirit at 119-8.
While the victory provides a morale boost, MI London’s progression remains unlikely. They must win their remaining fixtures by significant margins and rely on other results to improve their net run-rate. London Spirit faces a similar scenario as the tournament nears its conclusion.
