Social Democratic Party presidential contender Adewole Adebayo argues that corruption is the primary driver of Nigeria’s ongoing economic and security crises. He maintains that true progress in eliminating poverty and unrest is impossible without prioritizing integrity, transparency, and accountability within government institutions.
Speaking at the Arewa Awareness Summit on Unity Against Insecurity in Kaduna, Adebayo challenged political figures to adopt responsible governance and concrete strategies to resolve the nation’s difficulties. His position was clarified in a press release distributed by his media assistant, Ade Alabi. Adebayo believes that national development is being stifled by systemic graft, suggesting that no policy reform can succeed unless it is built upon a foundation of ethical public service.
The candidate highlighted the wealth of human and natural capital found in Northern Nigeria, encouraging regional leaders to better utilize these assets to spark economic expansion. He urged stakeholders to shift their focus from analyzing security threats toward executing actionable and lasting fixes.
Furthermore, Adebayo emphasized that the agricultural sector must receive higher investment to boost food stability and employment opportunities. He also raised an alarm regarding the growing population of out-of-school children in the North, asserting that long-term prosperity cannot be realized if education remains underfunded.
