Soldiers under Operation HADIN KAI have successfully pinpointed high-ranking commanders of the Islamic State West Africa Province following a series of strikes in Northern Borno State. Among those identified are Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa, the group’s regional governor; his deputy, Muhammad Jidda, widely known as The One-Handed Man; and Hamad Abu Hanifa, a prominent local commander.
Captain Mohammed Goni, spokesperson for the task force, explained that these identities were uncovered through forensics performed on equipment seized during recent missions. The recovered items included a video camera used for extremist propaganda. Data extracted from these devices provided critical evidence regarding terrorist hideouts located in the Mangari–Metele–Dogon Chukun area.
Authorities have designated Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa as the primary target in the Lake Chad region. The military is offering a cash bounty for information leading directly to his capture. Officials have promised to keep all tips anonymous to ensure the safety of those coming forward. Residents are encouraged to report sightings or relevant details via the official security line at 0708 498 8859, though the military warned citizens against attempting to engage or arrest the suspects themselves.
