The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa State has officially reported the death of 15-year-old Isah Muhammad, who drowned in a reservoir known as Sterling Pond. This water body is situated near Disina Road within the Dutse Local Government Area.
ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud, the spokesperson for the NSCDC Jigawa Command, explained that the tragedy unfolded on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. Authorities were alerted to the situation around 4:30 p.m. regarding the victim, who lived in the Bokoto Quarters of Dutse.
Once notified, officers from the Takur Site Division arrived at the location to assist. They retrieved Muhammad and transported him to the Dutse General Hospital. Unfortunately, attending medical staff declared the boy dead upon arrival. His body has since been handed over to his relatives for funeral proceedings as per Islamic tradition.
Commandant Muhammad Kabiru Ingawa, head of the NSCDC Jigawa State Command, extended his sympathies to the bereaved family. He requested divine comfort for the relatives while praying for the soul of the deceased.
