The Nigerian Army announced that its soldiers successfully rescued 16 hostages, seized 281 stolen cattle, and captured individuals accused of providing logistical and material support to terrorist groups. These efforts occurred over the last 24 hours across the states of Borno, Sokoto, Zamfara, and Plateau.
During a mission in Borno’s Bama region, the 222 Battalion detained 20 individuals, including nine women, two men, and nine children, identified as families of Boko Haram fighters. The group reportedly fled a terrorist camp following a clash with rival ISWAP forces. Separately, in Geidam, Yobe, authorities apprehended two individuals caught trafficking narcotics, while another pair was taken into custody in Monguno for supplying food to ISWAP insurgents.
In the Askira/Uba area, troops secured the release of a woman held by terrorists since November 2025 and returned her to her relatives. Meanwhile, Operation FANSAN YAMMA forces in Sokoto State liberated 14 captives and retrieved 281 cattle. Additional operations in Sokoto and Zamfara led to the recovery of two more kidnapped persons from fleeing militants.
In Plateau, military personnel intervened to assist farmers wounded during an assault by suspected herders. Following the death of two soldiers in an ambush, subsequent raids in Riyom resulted in 19 arrests and the recovery of 27 head of cattle.
