Chief Michael Aondoakaa, the 2027 PDP governorship hopeful for Benue State, has denounced the recent murder of four individuals in the Abaashwa community of Guma Local Government Area. Suspected armed herdsmen carried out the assault, which resulted in multiple injuries and further destabilized the region.
Through his media aide, James Ian, Aondoakaa labeled the incident a savage reminder of the deteriorating safety conditions in Benue. He emphasized that genuine security is measured by the ability to preemptively stop violence, not by reactive measures taken after citizens have perished. The ongoing insecurity has driven farmers from their land, threatening the state’s agricultural backbone.
Aondoakaa urged the state government to prioritize the safeguarding of lives and assets above all else, noting that citizens require active protection rather than repetitive expressions of sympathy. Furthermore, he highlighted a critical failure in medical access for the wounded caused by a strike involving state doctors. He called for urgent measures to ensure that survivors of such violence receive prompt life-saving care.
