The Imole Campaign Council has clarified that Governor Ademola Adeleke did not attack President Bola Tinubu, asserting that recent reports misrepresented his request. Senator Lere Oyewumi, Director-General of the council, stated on Tuesday that the governor simply asked the President to act as a neutral arbiter to end the violence against Accord party members in Osun State.
Governor Adeleke requested that the President restrain Marine Minister Gboyega Oyetola to prevent a return to past political hostility. The campaign reported that seven Accord members have been killed and over 20 wounded by gunfire in the last three months, while more than 60 others remain in police custody. The council highlighted that 45 supporters were killed by APC thugs during the 2022 election cycle, with no prosecutions following these incidents.
Furthermore, the governor raised concerns regarding the misappropriation of over N350 billion in local government funds by individuals associated with the APC. The campaign dismissed allegations of financial mismanagement against the administration, noting that Osun has received recognition for budget transparency and auditing standards.
