The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally disputed accusations from Governor Ademola Adeleke regarding alleged political intimidation ahead of the August 15 governorship election. While Governor Adeleke maintains that his supporters are being targeted, the APC dismisses these statements as baseless.
During a rally in Osogbo, Governor Adeleke requested that President Bola Tinubu intervene in the state’s security affairs. He claimed that seven members of the Accord party were killed recently, with dozens more injured or detained by law enforcement. He accused certain police officers of siding with political opponents and called on the President to restrain Minister Adegboyega Oyetola and Senator Francis Fadahunsi to protect the integrity of the vote.
Campaign officials, including Senator Lere Oyewumi and Kolapo Alimi, supported the governor’s claims, alleging that authorities were actively arresting party leadership. In response, APC media director Kola Olabisi labeled the accusations as frivolous. The party argued that the governor is merely preempting his anticipated electoral loss by casting blame on the President and Oyetola. Furthermore, the APC asserted that Adeleke failed to provide proof for his claims and suggested that his administration has instead fostered a climate of political instability.
