The Oyo State Judicial Commission of Inquiry, tasked with probing the kidnapping of students and teachers from Esinele and Yawota in the Oriire Local Government Area, is asking the public for assistance. Citizens are encouraged to submit written accounts to aid the investigative process.
Established by Governor Seyi Makinde on July 31, the commission is looking for evidence and details regarding the events. Officials are specifically requesting information on the regional security climate surrounding the timeframe of the abductions, the actions taken by security agencies, and strategies to improve future safety.
According to Olamide Tella, the commission’s secretary, both individuals and groups should send their findings along with contact details and any relevant paperwork. Submissions are accepted in person at the Conference Room, Office of the Head of Service, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, or via digital channels. All materials must be received no later than August 14, 2026.
The goal of this panel is to clarify the facts of the case, review the performance of responsible authorities, and propose effective solutions to keep schools safe from similar attacks.
