A woman and her three daughters have managed to flee their captors after being held for 180 days. The group, originally from Ariko village in the Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, regained their freedom this past Saturday. Reuben Buhari, a former gubernatorial aide and security analyst, confirmed the incident on Monday.
During their long period of confinement, the mother gave birth to a child, who sadly passed away three weeks later. According to Buhari, the family endured a grueling trek through the wilderness after slipping away from the kidnappers. The mother, who was reportedly exhausted, was forced to carry her youngest child, four-year-old Christy, who was suffering from an illness. When the mother grew too tired, her 12-year-old daughter assisted by carrying her younger sibling.
The family traveled through the night on Saturday and continued their journey the following day. Tragically, the four-year-old girl died during this final leg of the trek. The surviving family members reached a village in the Kachia area on Sunday, where local residents provided immediate assistance and medical care. Plans are now in place to move the survivors to Kaduna for additional health treatment.
