British tennis player Emma Raducanu will be absent from the upcoming US Open as she manages her recovery from a stress fracture in her right lower leg. The injury, which occurred during the grass-court season, previously forced her to withdraw from Wimbledon. Following recent evaluations with her medical staff, it was determined she is not ready to compete at Flushing Meadows when the tournament commences on August 23.
Raducanu, who won the US Open in 2021, has faced a difficult year marked by recurring physical setbacks. Beyond this stress fracture, she previously dealt with a foot injury and a post-viral illness that kept her off the court for over two months earlier this year. Although she managed a return during the clay-court season and reached a significant final at Queen’s Club in June, she has remained inactive since that event. Her current focus remains on rehabilitation as she wears a protective boot to support her healing process.
