Bauchi State law enforcement officials confirmed the apprehension of three individuals following the death of 51-year-old Monday Chiroma. The victim was targeted in Dandango due to suspicions of witchcraft. A second resident, Yelwa Bango, survived the assault. The attack took place on July 20 when a group accused the men of casting spells on 20-year-old Jamila Anthony.
Chiroma succumbed to his injuries at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital. The detained suspects are Danjuma Anthony, Ayuba Anthony, and Christopher Adamu, who reportedly admitted to their roles in the crime. Police continue to search for other involved parties.
In a separate criminal matter, 21-year-old Al-Amin Hamisu Gidado was taken into custody for the July 25 murder of 25-year-old Zahradeen Dan’Azumi Tanko in Unguwan Kur. Gidado and an accomplice named Yahaya Mu’azu allegedly stabbed the victim in the back. Tanko was declared deceased upon reaching the hospital.
Both files have been moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department for processing. Police Commissioner Sani-Omolori Aliyu publicly denounced these acts of violence, advising citizens against taking the law into their own hands.
