Tom Christopher, a 25-year-old content creator from Swansea, has issued an apology after leaving a bathtub at the peak of Pen y Fan in Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. On July 17, Christopher carried the tub up the 886-meter mountain while wearing flip-flops during a heatwave to film a video. Although he originally intended to remove the item immediately, he opted to leave it behind after viewers requested he keep it in place for photo opportunities.
The bathtub was eventually discovered by Cardiff Rugby academy players during a volunteering session, who subsequently handed the item to park authorities. Christopher described the incident as an honest mistake, noting that he prioritized the positive feedback from his followers over environmental preservation. He acknowledged his error, stating that he should have kept the mountain clear of personal belongings.
The incident has been officially recorded as fly-tipping by the national park, leaving the future possibility of a fine uncertain for the content creator. Christopher noted that he currently lacks the financial resources to pay a potential fine and expressed a willingness to perform voluntary service instead. The national park has yet to provide a formal statement on the matter.
