Peter Obi Praises Military for Preventing Student Abductions in Borno

Presidential candidate Peter Obi has lauded Nigerian troops for their successful intervention in preventing a mass kidnapping attempt at a girls’ college in Borno State.

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress, expressed his gratitude to the Nigerian military for stopping an attempted kidnapping of students at the Federal Government Girls College in Monguno, Borno State. He noted that this successful mission served as a meaningful birthday gift on July 19.

Obi lauded the soldiers for their bravery and professional conduct in stopping the attackers. He stated that the quick intervention prevented a potential disaster and proved that security forces can be effective when they receive proper support. He emphasized that every child in Nigeria deserves to attend school without the constant fear of violence or abduction.

The former Anambra State governor called upon the Federal Government to prioritize intelligence-led security strategies to stop threats before they escalate. He argued that the armed forces require better funding, modern technology, and enhanced welfare packages to maintain operational success. Obi also extended his sympathy to the students and families affected by the incident while encouraging citizens to back the efforts of security personnel.

This event occurred after soldiers from Operation HADIN KAI successfully pushed back suspected ISWAP militants who were targeting the school.
