Gunmen have once again killed five people in the Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Residents of Rafut village in the Kwatas district, where the attack occurred on Monday night, reported that the gunmen first ambushed four young men who were protecting their family homes in the village and killed them on the spot.

They also stated that the attackers then stormed a nearby compound, where they killed an elderly man before fleeing the area, raising the total fatalities to five.

It was reported that the killings happened shortly after a security meeting with local stakeholders.

The Chairman of the Bokkos Cultural Development Council, Farmasum Fuddang, confirmed that five community members were killed in a recent attack in Bokkos, despite prior warnings.

He confirmed that the incident occurred on October 14, following a week of violent attacks that claimed over ten lives.

The victims were ambushed while guarding their home, and the attackers were identified as members of the Fulani tribe.

The council criticized the failure to act on advance warnings and called for the establishment of a civilian task force to improve community security and intelligence sharing.

They emphasized the importance of self-defense and pledged support for those protecting their communities.

The Plateau State Police Command has not yet commented on the situation.
