Kano Hisbah prohibits mobile film downloading services, citing moral concerns

The Kano State Hisbah Board has shut down mobile movie downloading services across 44 local government areas to protect youth from content deemed contrary to Islamic and cultural values.

The Kano State Hisbah Board has officially outlawed mobile movie downloading shops throughout the state’s 44 local government areas. Acting Commander General Mujahid Aminuddeen communicated the prohibition through a recorded message distributed to the press.

This initiative aims to safeguard public morality and enforce adherence to Islamic principles. The board initiated the ban following internal investigations that linked these businesses to the distribution of cinematic content conflicting with local cultural values and religious doctrines.

Aminuddeen stated that the restriction is necessary to shield the youth from moral degradation and halt the proliferation of inappropriate materials. He issued a firm warning to all operators, demanding an immediate cessation of activities. The board has declared that it will pursue legal consequences for any individuals who ignore this directive and persist in running these downloading services.
