Ex-Jigawa legislator exits APC, alleging unfair party practices

Hon. Musa Sule Dutse, a former Jigawa lawmaker, has quit the APC, claiming that the party’s reconciliation committee engaged in biased and deceptive practices.

Musa Sule Dutse, who formerly served in the Jigawa State House of Assembly representing Dutse Constituency, has officially ended his affiliation with the All Progressives Congress. He cited deep dissatisfaction with the party’s recent reconciliation efforts, which he characterized as both prejudiced and unfair.

In a formal notification addressed to the Kachi Ward APC chairman in Dutse Local Government Area on July 15, 2026, Dutse declared his immediate withdrawal. He argued that the reconciliation committee functioned with bias and engaged in intimidation tactics meant to marginalize specific candidates. According to the former lawmaker, several other aspirants witnessed similar irregularities throughout the process.

Dutse expressed that the committee’s handling of the exercise was fundamentally flawed and deceptive. Although he was a foundational member instrumental in establishing the APC within Jigawa State, he stated he could not tolerate the group’s current behavior. Attempts to obtain a response from the committee regarding these allegations were unsuccessful.
