Manchester United has secured goalkeeper Karl Darlow on a two-year deal, which includes an option for an additional season. This transition is expected to facilitate the departure of Turkish international Altay Bayindir, who previously drew interest from Besiktas.
Although Leeds United offered the 35-year-old Welsh international a contract extension, he chose to leave Elland Road after three seasons, during which he made 38 appearances. Leeds confirmed his exit, noting that he sought a new challenge despite their proposal to keep him in West Yorkshire.
Having logged 279 club appearances and earning 15 international caps, Darlow expressed pride in joining Manchester United. He will serve as backup to primary goalkeeper Senne Lammens. Given that Lammens is currently on a break following Belgium’s World Cup run, Darlow is expected to participate in the upcoming pre-season fixtures, beginning with a match against Wrexham in Helsinki on July 18.
