Armed men abduct Oyo school headmaster, request 30 million naira ransom

Suspected bandits have kidnapped Matthew Kolawale Owoade, a 60-year-old school headmaster in Oyo State, and are demanding a N30 million ransom for his release.

A 60-year-old school administrator, Matthew Kolawale Owoade, was abducted by suspected bandits in the Itesiwaju Local Government Area of Oyo State. Owoade, who leads the Nomadic Basic School in Igbojaye, was reportedly seized while traveling home from his farm. His son, Abiola Owoade, confirmed that the kidnappers reached out via his father’s phone to demand a payment of N30 million for his freedom. Local residents discovered the victim’s motorcycle discarded in a wooded area on Sunday. The community is now urging security organizations, including the Nigeria Police, the DSS, and the NSCDC, to prioritize a swift rescue operation. DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, the spokesperson for the state police, verified the kidnapping occurred in Budo Aare and noted that authorities are actively working to locate and free the educator unharmed.
