Umahi Dismisses Claims of Threats Against Peter Obi

Minister David Umahi has labeled Peter Obi’s claims of threats against his life as groundless, suggesting they stem from frustration over President Tinubu’s growing support in the South-East.

Minister of Works, David Umahi, has rejected assertions made by Peter Obi regarding threats to his life. While reviewing infrastructure projects in Ebonyi State, Umahi labeled the claim as groundless.

Umahi suggested that the presidential candidate for the Labour Party—misidentified in the original report as the NDC—is expressing frustration due to the growing popularity of President Bola Tinubu within the South-East region. The Minister insisted that Obi remains safe and stated that the administration expects him to participate in future elections to experience another electoral defeat.

According to the Minister, Obi’s previous political success in the region was an anomaly. He argued that the current administration’s tangible development projects have convinced residents that supporting President Tinubu is more beneficial than engaging in what he termed artificial political rhetoric. Umahi further challenged Peter Obi to a public debate regarding the accomplishments of the current government and the advantages of the South-East being integrated into national governance.
