Military intercepts Chadian national smuggling supplies to terrorists in Borno

Operation HADIN KAI soldiers arrested a 48-year-old Chadian woman in Borno State for allegedly smuggling drugs and alcohol intended for terrorist groups.

Soldiers serving under Operation HADIN KAI have taken a Chadian woman into custody for allegedly transporting contraband intended for insurgent groups in the Lake Chad area. Captain Mohammed Goni, the acting spokesperson for the Joint Task Force in the North-East, confirmed the arrest on Thursday.

Troops from Sector 3 carried out the apprehension during a targeted operation on the Maiduguri–Monguno road. The 48-year-old suspect, identified as Rachael Samuel from the Chari-Baguirmi Province, was heading toward Kwatan Doron Baga in Borno State when she was stopped. Officials acted on reliable information regarding the transit of logistics meant for terrorists hiding in the Lake Chad islands.

Authorities seized a variety of illicit items from the suspect, including 30 kilograms of cannabis sativa, 48 bottles of gin, 61 herbal alcoholic drinks, and containers of hydromercuric chloride. Additionally, soldiers confiscated her mobile phone, ATM cards, and personal funds. The suspect is currently being detained, and the seized materials will be transferred to relevant agencies for legal proceedings. This action represents a broader military strategy aimed at breaking the supply chains that support extremist activities throughout the region.
