Lawyer Calls for Inquiry into President Tinubu Following Bribery Allegations Against Chief of Staff

Legal practitioner Frank Tietie has condemned the bribery allegations against Femi Gbajabiamila as a major intelligence failure and urged the National Assembly to query President Tinubu.

Legal expert Frank Tietie has publicly expressed concern regarding bribery claims leveled against Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu. During an appearance on Arise Television, Tietie characterized the situation as a major intelligence lapse and suggested that the National Assembly needs to hold President Tinubu accountable.

The controversy stems from claims made by Adeniyi Adeyemi, the Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, who asserted that Gbajabiamila accepted a payment of N400 million through a middleman and requested a further N200 million in exchange for an appointment. In response, the Presidency has denied these accusations, clarifying that the Chief of Staff lacks the authority to issue appointments or handle related correspondence.

Tietie stated that the nation is facing institutional erosion and labeled the affair a significant security and administrative failure. He argued that if the President permitted such actions, it could warrant impeachment proceedings. Furthermore, he criticized the National Assembly for its perceived inaction, suggesting that lawmakers should have officially challenged the President regarding the embarrassment caused to the country.
