Ben Murray-Bruce Reveals Why Amaechi and Five Governors Abandoned PDP in 2015

Former Senator Ben Murray-Bruce cites poor presidential counsel and ignored warnings as the reasons behind the 2015 mass defection of six governors from the PDP.

Ben Murray-Bruce, a former senator from Bayelsa, recently explained the motivations behind Rotimi Amaechi and five other governors leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2015 election cycle. In a widely circulated video, the former lawmaker pointed to the flawed judgment and poor counsel provided to then-President Goodluck Jonathan by his staff as the primary cause of the political exodus.

Murray-Bruce stated that individuals within the President’s inner circle disregarded multiple cautions regarding the escalating frustration among influential party governors. He claimed these aides failed to address clear indications that high-ranking officials were dissatisfied and contemplating a departure from the party. Reflecting on his past interactions, he expressed shock at the perceived incompetence of those advisors, noting that their disregard for the political climate ultimately alienated key allies of the administration.
