Nigerian soldiers under the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully completed several intelligence-driven missions in Kaduna and Zamfara states. Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja announced these results on Sunday, detailing how forces rescued three captives and prevented planned insurgent attacks.
On June 18, soldiers stationed in Kaduna’s Igabi Local Government Area responded to reports of armed bandit movement near Kerawa forest. They successfully recovered Bilkisu Hayatu, 30-year-old Habibah Sadisu, and a one-year-old child named Abdulmutallib Sadisu after the captors abandoned them. These individuals, who had been taken from Kajenjere Tami Village on May 17, received medical attention at a clinic in Kadage.
In Zamfara State, military forces collaborated with security agencies on June 20 to thwart an assault on Gamdanda Village in the Gummi region. By utilizing an ambush strategy, the military forced the attackers to flee, seizing motorcycles, weapons, and supplies in the process. Additionally, a joint effort with the Defence Intelligence Agency led to the capture of four suspected extremists and informants, while another suspect, Muhammad Mamman, was apprehended following suspicious inconsistencies in his statements.
During a separate engagement in Maru, Zamfara, troops repelled an enemy attack with support from the 1 Brigade. While the military inflicted significant losses on the militants, three soldiers tragically lost their lives. Elsewhere, in the Bakura region, proactive patrols intercepted and dispersed groups of terrorists heading toward Tudun Barade and Badamma villages, effectively safeguarding the local population from potential violence.
