The senatorial by-election for the Ondo South district is currently unfolding in a calm and orderly manner. Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa expressed his approval of the voter engagement observed throughout the six local government areas involved in the exercise.
This electoral event was triggered by the vacancy left by Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, who recently accepted an appointment from President Bola Tinubu to serve as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations. The voting process covers the Ilaje, Ese-Odo, Okitipupa, Irele, Odigbo, and Ileoluji/Okeigbo council areas.
After casting his ballot at Unit 05, Ward 4 in the Obenla community, Governor Aiyedatiwa credited the All Progressives Congress candidate, Professor Dayo Faduyile, for his vigorous outreach efforts which helped bolster attendance. The governor emphasized that the state remains secure and credited security forces for maintaining order during the proceedings.
