President Bola Tinubu has named Professor Segun Aina as the incoming Registrar for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board. Aina is set to take over from Professor Ishaq Oloyede, whose term concludes on July 31, 2026.
This announcement was made public on Thursday by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
Aina currently serves as a professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. He brings significant expertise in digital infrastructure, national examination frameworks, and institutional reform.
The incoming registrar holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Kent, alongside an MSc in Internet Computing and Network Security and a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University.
With over 15 years of consulting experience for state and federal governments, Aina has contributed to various digital transitions and system designs. His professional background includes advisory roles for the National Examinations Council and the National Business and Technical Examinations Board.
He remains an active member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria and several international engineering bodies.
Upon turning 40 in July, Aina will become the youngest person to lead JAMB. President Tinubu expressed optimism that Aina will leverage his technical background to advance the organization, building upon the foundations established by Professor Oloyede.
