Xabi Alonso Finalizes Managerial Move To Real Madrid

Real Madrid have reportedly reached a full agreement with former player Xabi Alonso to become their next head coach, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Alonso, currently managing Bayer Leverkusen, is said to have signed a three-year contract with the club, running until 2028. His appointment signals the end of Carlo Ancelotti’s tenure and marks a new era for the Spanish giants under the former midfield maestro.

Romano broke the news on Monday via X, stating: “Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid, here we go! Story confirmed and deal sealed for Xabi as new manager until 2028.”

The deal reportedly includes a fully assembled backroom staff, with Alonso expected to officially take charge at the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, where Real Madrid are likely to compete as Champions League winners.

“Staff sorted, contract in place and three-year deal for Alonso with Real planning for him to start at FIFA Club World Cup,” Romano added.

Carlo Ancelotti’s departure from Real Madrid is reportedly imminent, as the club prepares to make the managerial transition official in the coming weeks.

Ancelotti, who has guided the club to multiple major trophies across two stints, is expected to exit on a positive note, leaving behind a lasting legacy at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Romano concluded, “Ancelotti farewell soon, then Xabi era.”
