Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, stated on Wednesday that the current administration will justify President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid through its track record of infrastructure development rather than political speeches. He emphasized that development work will continue without interruption during the election cycle.
While visiting construction sites for the Arterial Road N16 and the Tunga Madaki-Zuba road, Wike asserted that delivering on promises is the most effective form of campaigning. He argued that citizens are more interested in concrete achievements than empty political promises, noting that his administration has already demonstrated its commitment to the public.
Regarding the N16 project connecting Jahi, Gwarimpa, and Karsana, Wike highlighted its significance for regional connectivity and noted that completion is expected by January. He promised consistent funding to ensure the project remains on schedule.
At the Tunga Madaki-Zuba site, the minister acknowledged that while seasonal rains have impacted earthworks, the contractor has successfully maintained progress on drainage systems. He also authorized the relocation of utility infrastructure to facilitate the installation of streetlights, reiterating his commitment to providing contractors with the necessary financial resources to meet their deadlines.
